John Stephens Cannon, a native of Mobile, Alabama and resident of Fort Walton Beach, Florida passed away Monday, January 1, 2018 at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. He was 80 years old. He was the son of the late Julius M. Cannon, Sr. and Velma E. Cannon. John served in the United States Army Reserve, United States Army and Air Force. John retired from Unisys Corporation as Engineering Lead. John was an educator at heart, loved designing and problem solving. John was a Citronelle High football hero in his teens and loved to visit friends and family in his hometown. John was a member of Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, Fort Walton Elks Lodge for more than 20 years, and a member of Krewe of Columbus. He loved these organizations and leaves fond memories with many dear friends. Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 44 years, Suk Cannon, and his children and their spouses, Sherri Bragg, Steve Cannon, Lori and Dennis White, Amanda and Brian Cannon and Dianna Cannon. John was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and loved his sister and her husband, Joann and James Fagan, and his brother and his wife, Steve and Carrell Cannon, Jeanne Cannon and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Saint Cecilia Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, Alabama, Friday, January 5, 2018 from 12pm until 1pm. A Mass of Resurrection will begin at 1pm with Rev. John Coghlan, celebrant. Burial will be in Saint Cecilia Catholic Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Cecelia's Catholic Church.
