Johnny Gray Parten, Sr.

Johnny Gray Parten, Sr., 78, a resident of Saraland, Alabama passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Springhill Memorial Hospital. Johnny honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Johnny was a master electrician and retired from Minchew Electric. He loved the outdoors and spending time at the hunting camp. Johnny enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Zellon and Arcola Gates Parten; sibling, Rev. D.I. Parten, Zelma Jamason, Vivian Mouser, Mildred Hollingshead, Billie Jane Morgan and James A. Parten. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 40 years, Patricia Walker Parten; children, Diane Morrow, John Christopher Parten, Me-Lisa Parten, Johnny Parten, Jr. and Dylan Parten; thirteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; siblings, Kitty Foreson, Margaret Williams, Willodean Goodman, Esther Ross and Virginia Seales; best friend, Ferrell Hamblin; other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 1pm until the 2pm funeral service on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Marcus Hobbs officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.
