Joseph Eugene Slaughter, 71, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015 in Citronelle, Alabama. He attended University of Alabama and graduated from Livingston University. His early working years began as a science teacher at Theodore High School and a chemist at Ciba Geigy; he then became a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation assigned to the Washington, D.C. office, Columbia, South Carolina office and served out his career in the New Orleans, Louisiana office, retiring after twenty-five years. Eugene was an avid outdoorsman and conservationist. He was dedicated to serving the community in numerous ways and was recognized as Citronelle Man of the Year. He was a member and served as a deacon at First Baptist Church – Citronelle. He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Julie Ann Jefferies Slaughter; daughters, Ginger Lynn Anderson and Lorraine (Joshua) Gordon; grandchildren, Summer, Savannah, Joshua, E. J.; siblings, John Slaughter, Ruth Angaran, Rebecca Watson, Virginia Luckey; other relatives and friends. A wake will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2015 from 6pm-9pm at First Baptist Church – Citronelle. Funeral service will be held at 1pm, Thursday, October 8, 2015 at First Baptist Church – Citronelle with Rev. Elbert Charpie officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery in Citronelle, Alabama. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church – Citronelle, 8520 State Street, Citronelle, Alabama 36522.
