Joseph L. Rowell

Joseph L. "Joe" Rowell, Sr., age 76, a native and resident of Citronelle, AL, died Monday, February 1, 2010, at his residence. Joe was a Junction Boy under Paul "Bear" Bryant and a member of New Home Baptist Church. Joe was well known as the Vegetable Man as he supplied the Citronelle area with vegetables from his farm for many years. He is survived by his wife of 19 years Louise Everett Rowell; Two Sons, Joey (Dinah) Rowell and David Rowell all of Citronelle, AL; Three Daughters, Esther Morrison of Birmingham, AL, Mary Ellen (Emery) Mears and Renee (Bubba) Wood all of Citronelle, AL Three Step-daughters Jackie Griffin of Chatom, AL, Cynthia Walz of Huntsville, AL and Vickie Beech of Citronelle, AL, Five Brothers, Wesley Rowell, William Rowell, George Rowell, Carl Rowell, Malcolm Rowell and One Sister, Ruth Ella Miller all of Citronelle, AL, Eight grandchildren, Four great-grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren and 1 step great-granddaughter and other relatives and many friends. A wake will be held from 6-9PM Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Freeman Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at New Home Baptist Church at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 4, 2010 with Rev. Jeff Bryant, Rev. Johnny Tucker & Rev. Elbert Charpie officiating. Burial will be at Rowell Cemetery in Citronelle, AL
