Juanita Lee Sturdivant, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away at her home on March 25, 2024. She was known for her spunky personality, always wearing a smile and sharing jokes with those around her. Juanita will be remembered as a sweet soul who brought joy to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Born on February 6, 1952, Juanita lived a life filled with love and faith. Her proudest accomplishments were her unwavering love for Christ and her family. She cherished spending time with her loved ones and always prioritized their well-being and happiness.
In her free time, Juanita indulged in hobbies such as fishing and watching TV, with a particular fondness for the show "The Young and the Restless." She also found solace in listening to the music of Elvis Presley, finding comfort in his timeless songs.
Juanita leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be carried on by those she held dear. She is survived by her devoted husband, Charles R. Sturdivant; loving children Karen C. Austin (Marlon), Angelia C. Mashburn (Sterling Rivers), Stephen Roy Mashburn, Sr. (Sylvia), and Otis Wayne Evans; grandchildren, Charles P. Kinard (Cinty), Brittany Catlin (Dar), Jennifer Finch, Christopher Mashburn (Ashley), Cassidy Mashburn, Madison Mashburn, Stephen Mashburn Jr., Caitlin Boyington, and Gabe Woods (Elizabeth); as well as ten great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her siblings, Betty Schilling (John), Sheryl VanEtten, Timothy VanEtten, a host of nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends who will miss her deeply.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Jean VanEtten.
A wake will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Freeman Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The Funeral Service will take place on March 30 at 11:00 AM at the same location with Bro. CJ Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Community Cemetery.
Juanita's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace knowing she was loved beyond measure.
The family would also like to thank Rikitti Odom for being not only a caregiver but a friend to our mother. We would also like to thank Springhill Hospice Home Heath members: Felicia Bell, Cynthia Blankinship, and Sherri Bedgood. Sherri we appreciate you being with us at the transition stage. Charles said he wouldn't have it any other way. We appreciate all the care and love each of you gave our mother.
