Kathryn Boykin Orso, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on January 7, 2025, at the Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. Born on April 24, 1955, Kathryn lived a life characterized by selflessness, determination, and a fierce love for her family.
Throughout her life, Kathryn, who was one of a kind, was known for her kind heart and her unwavering determination. She faced challenges with the spirit of a fighter, embodying strength that inspired those around her. Kathryn was a fierce protector of her loved ones, and her loyalty was unmatched. Her family was her proudest accomplishment, and not only did she take pride in the joy of their lives, she also put the needs of her children and grandchildren before hers.
Kathryn was happily married to her husband, Billy Orso. Together, they raised their children, Cantrell Orso and Kira Howell (Luke), who brought immense pride and joy to her life. Kathryn cherished her role as a grandmother to Dylan, Kirstin, Jayce, Sarah, Cohen, and Kadie, often expressing her deep love and connection to each of them.
She shared a strong bond with her siblings: Charlene Champion, Sylvia Whitt, Michael Boykin, and Joey Boykin. Kathryn was also a nurturing aunt, and her life enriched the lives of a multitude of nieces and nephews, along with many other relatives and friends who were fortunate to know her.
In her leisure time, Kathryn enjoyed babysitting and was an avid fan of Elvis Presley, finding joy in his music and movies. Her vivacious personality captivated those fortunate enough to spend time with her.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Ruth Boykin, and her sister, Gloria White. Their memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Freeman Funeral Home followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM with Pastor Jack Lee.
As we celebrate Kathryn's life, we remember a woman who demonstrated the true meaning of love, bravery, and family devotion. Her legacy will forever be cherished by those she leaves behind.
