Larry R. Walser, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on November 1, 2024, at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 6, 1948, Larry dedicated much of his life to the sea as a boat captain, where he made a name for himself in the shrimping community.
Larry was not just a devoted shrimping professional; he was also an avid reader who took great pleasure in engaging with the world through news and sports, especially Alabama Football. His love for the outdoors often found him deer hunting, and it was in these quiet moments that he cherished his connection with nature and life itself. Above all, though, his proudest accomplishments remained rooted in his family, which he adored immensely.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Maxine Walser; his children, Albert Bedwell (Janie), Sherita Bedwell (Daniel), Mack Coy Walser (Norma), and Margaret Weaver (O'Neal); and his grandchildren, Noah, Michael, Rufus, Nancy, Karlee, Coy Jr., Shelby, Addy, Christian, MacKynlee, Kevilyn, Alyssa, Faith, Hayleigh, Kevin "BoBo," and Lil Larry. Larry also leaves behind twelve treasured great-grandchildren, his siblings Earnie Walser and Mary Elizabeth Aldridge, his sister-in-law Jewel Rivers (Percy), and his brother-in-law Lee Weaver, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Mack Coy Walser; his mother, Anna Belle Potter; and his siblings Jack Walser, Robert Walser, and Dorothy Medley.
The family invites friends to honor Larry R. Walser's life during a visitation at Freeman Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM with Bro. Percy Carl Rivers and Bro. Jerry Waite officiating. Burial will follow in Weaver Cemetery.
Larry's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed as he embarks on his eternal journey with the Lord.
