Lewis Braxton Platt, a resident of Citronelle, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020, at Providence Hospital. He was 68 years old. Braxton was the owner/operator of Platt Electric for many years. After working at his electric company, Braxton wore many hats while working at South Alabama Utilities. He was the Safety Coordinator, the Gopher Tortoise Reserve Director, and his favorite job was being the number one man in the number two business. He also served for over 30 years at the Citronelle Rescue Unit. Braxton was a faithful member of Citronelle United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and was a proud trustee for many years. Braxton was always willing to help anyone in need and spent many hours cooking ribs and boston butts for benefits for people in need, while also overcoming his own battle with breast cancer. In his spare time Braxton enjoyed woodworking and taking pictures, and also joking and telling stories to anybody who would listen. Above all, Braxton favorite job was being a loving husband and father. Braxton was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Opal Platt; and uncle, Claude Platt. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 37 years, Marion Platt; two children, Amelia and Opie Platt; loving cousins; and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 5pm until the 6:30pm Memorial Service Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at Citronelle United Methodist Church, with Rev. Anthony Tutor and Rev. Kathy Fisher officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Tim Lee, Stacie Hinton, Eric Driskell, Donnie Cunningham, Jay Rowell, and Adrian Beard. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Braxton's memory to Citronelle United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society, or Gideons International.
