Lewis Clayton Nichols, 93, a native of Sims Chapel, Alabama and longtime resident of Mount Vernon, Alabama passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at North Baldwin Infirmary. Mr. Nichols honorably served in United States Army during World War II. He retired as a shipping clerk from Courtaulds. He was loving husband, and a devoted father caring for his daughter Collette until her death in 2007. Mr. Nichols was a longtime member of Lockler Memorial Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Maxine B. Nichols and daughter, Sharon Collette Nichols. Those left to cherish his memory is his sister, Joanne Nichols Lane; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 11am until the 12 pm funeral service on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Lockler Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Marvin Shepard, Jr., Larry Nichols, Scottie Akridge, Brent Taylor, Chris Schwartzauer, and Dewey Cochran.
