Lila Cornelia Byrd

Lila Cornelia Byrd, 79, a resident of Mount Vernon, Alabama passed away Friday, August 15, 2014 at Springhill Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Byrd was a homemaker, member of Simple House of Praise Church, worked for approximately 20 years with the Foster Grandparents Program and previously worked at the Citronelle Convalescent Center for 5 years. Her sense of humor always kept everyone laughing when she was around. A beloved mother to her children and to the community she will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilmer Byrd, sisters, Quincy Acree and Gertrude Byrd, and brother Dave Taylor. She leaves to cherish her memory seven children, Doris (James) Meadows, James Byrd, Marshall Byrd, Clyde (Glenda) Byrd, Rose (Clarence) Byrd, Valentine (Joe) Stanley and Forest (Shae) Acree; 12 grandchildren, Sabrina, Terri, Brian, Jason M., Joel, Jason, Keith, Cody, Victoria, Maggie, Adam and Patrick; 13 great grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Bonnie (John) Byrd, Roxie (Larry) Brewer, Kim (Joseph) Blankinchip and Obra Milbroun; brother-in-law, Collie (Pam) Byrd other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Monday, August 18, 2014 from 10am until the 11am funeral service at Simple House of Praise Church with Rev. Kesler Weaver, Jr. and Rev. Greg Kirkwood officiating.
