Lillian Reed Rivers, a resident of Eight Mile, Alabama, passed away Friday, April 14, 2023. She was 79 years old. Lillian was born and raised in the Calcedeaver Community of Mount Vernon, Alabama, to Tom and Ellen Reed. She was a faithful member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church, served as a council woman for the MOWA Band of Choctaw Indian Tribe, and worked as a dietician supervisor for over 30 years. Lillian was an excellent cook and was very talented with canning and making preserves, but she was most famous for her jelly cake. She was devoted to her family and they will miss her dearly.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Ellen Reed; sisters, Lavon, Barbara, and Ora; niece, Net; and nephew, Pelly.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 52 years, Van Rivers; daughters, Destiny “DeeDee” Fairchild and Jessie Lynn; grandchildren, Anthony Wilson, Skylar Fairchild, and Savannah Wilson; great-grandchildren, Wade, A'mora, and Treyh; nephews, Eric Rivers (Priscilla) and Ralph Maddox (Theresa); special friends, Tony Wilson, Jeanette Ward, Dennis and Pam Byrd, Linda Lofton, and Millie Butler; and a host great nieces and great nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10am until the 11am funeral service Monday, April 17, 2023, at Cedar Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Shaw and Rev. Nick Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Reed’s Chapel Cemetery.
