Lillie Betty Rivers

Lillie Betty Rivers, 73, a resident of Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday, October 09, 2016, at Crowne Healthcare of Citronelle. Betty was a member of Saint Theresa Catholic Church. She was very family oriented; she loved spending time with them and taking care of them, especially her grandchildren. Betty was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Eva Byrd; her daughter, Brenda Reed; and siblings, Nettie, Mason, Murray, and Harold Byrd. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 56 years, Everett Rivers, Jr.; children, Patricia Wells (Kenneth), Lillian Weaver (Keith), Everett “Manny” Rivers, III. (Delia), Anthony Byrd (Ella), Brandon Reed (Trish), Ryan Reed, and Will Reed; great grandchildren, McKenzie Byrd, Kirstin Byrd, AJ Byrd, Landon Reed, and Chase Lomax; siblings, Isabell Nelson, Margie Sullivan, Mary Byrd, Audrey Byrd, Wendell Byrd, and Leroy Byrd; and other relatives and friends. A wake will be held for Betty from 6-9pm Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Freeman Funeral Home. Rosary will begin at 5:45pm. The Mass of the Resurrection will be 11am Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Rev. John Coghlan, celebrant. Burial will follow in Byrd Cemetery.
