Linda Lou Byrd, a resident of Mount Vernon, Alabama, passed away April 18, 2023, at Providence Hospital. She was 77 years old. Linda was a teacher with the Headstart Program in Citronelle for 38 years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother to her family, and she loved to cook, clean, and go to Citronelle Marketplace and CVS. Linda enjoyed watching wrestling and her favorite team was the New York Yankees. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family and they will miss her dearly.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Katie Byrd; sister, Rose Weaver and Laura Farmer; brother, Timmy Sullivan; and son, Paul Lee Byrd.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 60 years, Roland Byrd, Sr.; children, Roland Byrd, Jr. (LuAnn), Timothy "Rock" Byrd (Ceselie), and Amy Byrd; grandchildren, Carlton (Susan), Robert (Misty), Etric, Paul (Morgan), Zack, Lindsey (Brandon), Millie (Chris), Bethany (Bryce), and Brandee; twelve great-grandchildren; siblings, Leon Byrd, Mickey Sullivan, Tisdale Sullivan, Doris Meadows, and Sammi Byrd; special daughters, Kayla Weaver, Rodeaner Byrd, Wanda Rivers, and Bonnie Aligood; best friends, Viola Snow and Glenda Green; other relatives; and friends.
The family will receive friends from 2pm until the 3pm funeral service Monday, April 24, 2023, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Rev. Chuck Nordstrom, Rev. Dunford Cole, and Rev. George Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Byrd Cemetery.
