Mrs. Lois Rowell Nichols passed away May 4, 2013. Born on February 8, 1916, she was the last of four children born to Ada Ferrill Rowell and Andrew Joseph Rowell, Jr. of Citronelle, Alabama. She was married to Mr. J. E. (Red) Nichols until his untimely death in 1981. Mrs. Nichols was instrumental in the development and exploration of the Citronelle oil field. Known for her charm and warm hospitality, Mrs. Nichols and her husband entertained many family members and friends in their Citronelle home. An avid sportswoman, Mrs. Nichols enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and farming. She is predeceased by her parents mentioned above and her siblings, Audrey Rowell Malone, Elton Leroy (Dick) Rowell, and Eunice Rowell Onderdonk. She is survived by her nephew, Michael Onderdonk of Chatom, AL, nieces, Freda M. (J. Albert) McDonald of Citronelle, AL, Leona (William C.) Rowan of Mobile, AL, great nephews and great nieces, Audrey M. Atkins, John G. McDonald, Leigh Lawshe, Laura O. Olen, Michelle O. Floyd, Andrea O. Powell, Elizabeth Onderdonk, Benjamin Onderdonk, Elizabeth Costello and Joseph Hoggle. Committal service will be 11am, Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum in Pine Crest Cemetery with Rev. John G. McDonald and Rev. Dino Danzey officiating.
