Lydia Catherine McGill, a beloved soul known for her unwavering love and dedication to her family, passed away on March 2, 2024. She was a beacon of light, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on December 9, 1933, Lydia lived a remarkable life filled with love, generosity, and kindness. Her memory will forever be cherished through the countless memories she created, especially through her deep devotion to her family. Lydia's warm and caring nature knew no bounds as she selflessly cared for and supported her loved ones throughout her lifetime.
Described as loving, spunky, feisty, and full of life, Lydia never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her vibrant personality shone brightly in the lives of everyone she encountered. Lydia found joy in simple pleasures like fishing and canning with her children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
One of Lydia's proudest accomplishments was her active involvement with the American Legion Auxiliary Post 164, where she touched the lives of many in her community through her dedication to service.
Lydia Catherine McGill is reunited in peace with her husband, Wilton McGill; parents, Arthur and Mittie Zehner; daughter, Susan Richardson; grandson, Dylan Turner; and siblings, Arthur Ernest Walker, Albert Zehner, Lewis Zehner, John Zehner, and Bill Zehner. While the world mourns the loss of such a remarkable individual, Lydia's legacy lives on through those she held dear.
She is survived by her children, Robert O. Richardson, David E. McGill (Darlene), Cathy R. Turner (Randy), and Dianne McGill; brothers, Charles Zehner, Freddie Zehner, Harry Zehner, and Mike Zehner; grandchildren; Natalie Hubbard (Matt), Samantha Jones (Rodney), and April Ferrall (John); great-grandchildren; Brady, Blair, Hayden, Corbin, Aiden, and Blakely; as well as numerous other relatives and friends who were touched by her warmth and love.
Services to honor and celebrate Lydia's life will be held at Citronelle Methodist Church. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service with Pastor Denny McDavid officiating. Burial will follow in Citronelle Methodist Cemetery.
The family would like to thank her caregivers, Ellen Zehner, Jackie Patton, Rachel Helton, and Crystal Howell for their compassion and support.
