Mable C. Byrd, age 86, a native of Newton, MS and resident of Citronelle, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. She was a member of Citronelle United Methodist Church and retired from Newberry's Department Store after 26 years as a sales clerk. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wallace Byrd, parents, Rueben & Littie Bell Cleveland, brother, A.Q. Cleveland and son-in-law, John Stephen Simison. She is survived by her son, Gary L. (Earline) Mitchell of Morton, MS; daughters, Patricia B. Simison of Saraland, Vickie B. (Wayne) Davidson of Satsuma, and Lue Ann (Kevin) Henderson of Citronelle; sister, Thelma Wilson of Biloxi, MS; brother, John W. Cleveland of Ridgecrest, MS; 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. A wake will be from 6 PM to 9 PM Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Citronelle United Methodist Church. The Funeral service will be at 11 AM Friday, June 18, 2010 at the church with Rev. M. Kathryn Knight officiating. Interment will be at Pine Crest Cemetery in Citronelle.
