Mae O'Neal Young

Mae O’Neal Young, a resident of Fairford, Alabama, passed away Monday, November 13, 2017 at her residence. She was 85 years old. Mae was born May 01, 1932, to Bud and Jessie O’Neal in LeBlanc, Louisiana. Mae worked for many years as a pharmacy technician at Searcy Hospital. When she wasn’t working, Mae volunteered at Caring Hearts in Chatom, Alabama, and she was also the Senior Ladies’ Sunday School teacher at Liberty Baptist Church. She loved her church and the Lord very much. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Mae was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 58 years, John Calloway Young. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Dirk Young (Amanda) and Mark Young (Charlotte); seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; brothers, Tommy O’Neal, Billy O’Neal, Roy O’Neal, and Randy O’Neal; sisters, Peggy Kenyon and Bonnie Recciti; and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 11am until the 12pm funeral service Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Pickard and Rev. Gaston Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery. A special, heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Jorine Chestang for all the dedication, companionship and care she provided to Mama Mae.
