Mary Hicks passed away on February 6, 2024. She was born on October 31, 1941, and lived a life full of love and kindness. Mary was known for her funny and sweet personality, always bringing laughter and joy wherever she went. Her warm and caring nature made her the center of attention among her family and friends.

Mary's proudest accomplishments in life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Mary's love for her family knew no bounds, and she dedicated herself to their well-being and happiness.

With a passion for music, Mary found solace in playing the piano at her church. She loved attending when she was able to. Mary loved the LORD and was a witness to others.

She had an infectious love for dancing that always drew people to join her in joyful movement. She was a very good artist, and influenced her grandchildren to do the same. Mary also enjoyed playing board games with her family, creating precious memories filled with laughter and friendly competition. She possessed a unique talent for finding bargains while indulging in one of her favorite pastimes - bargain hunting.

The memory of Mary will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who knew her best. Her genuine love and care will continue to inspire everyone who had the privilege to be touched by her presence.

A visitation will be held on February 10, 2024, at Reed's Chapel Baptist Church in McIntosh, Alabama from 11:00 AM until the 12:00 PM funeral service with Bro. Eric Reed, Bro. Chris Reed, and Bro. Chad Orso officiating. Burial will follow in Reed's Chapel Cemetery. 

Mary is survived by a loving family that includes her children Vance Reed (Deanna), Phyllis Nelson (Ray), Troy Reed Sr. (Shirley), Gregory Reed, and Ingran Simmons (Pat). Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren Chassity Reed (Eric), David Weaver (Amber), John Weaver (Sarah), Dustin Reed, Mitchell Reed, Georgia Gardner (Rayford), Vance Reed Jr., Drake Jarvis (Bailey), Jeremy Fields, Ernest Dixon III (Melissa), Gregory Dixon (Airanne), Troy Reed Jr. (Azucena), Blake V. Reed (Amber), Jakob Reed, Matthew Reed (Megan), Kaitlyn Reed (Lance), Phillip Reed (Schon), Samuel Reed, and Camryn Simmons (Cody). Additionally, she is survived by 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and siblings Lula Bell, Arrie Lee, Claudett, Annie, Shirley, Melton, and Johnny.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, William T. Potts; son, John Weaver; grandchildren, Jeremy Fields and Patrick Handley; and her parents, Melton and Augusta Weaver. She is also rejoined with her siblings Vera and Rodney in eternal peace.

Mary touched the lives of many through her selflessness and love. Her memory will forever be cherished by numerous relatives and friends who were fortunate enough to have known her.

May Mary Hicks rest in eternal peace as her spirit continues to shine brightly in the hearts of those she loved. Her legacy will forever remind us of the transformative power of love and kindness.
