Mary Lou Orso, a beloved nurturer and selfless spirit, passed away peacefully at her home on October 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 30, 1965, she dedicated her life to fostering a warm and welcoming environment for everyone she encountered. Her profound love for her family was evident in everything did, and her children and grandchildren were truly her proudest accomplishments.
Mary Lou is survived by her devoted husband, Cliff Andre Orso, and her cherished children: Brooks Reed (Kelly), Karen Lambert (Wayne), Jasmine Weaver (Clevon), and Codie Rivers (Dallas). She was a beloved grandmother to her grandchildren: Brooks Jr., Hunter, Ashlyn, Caris, Clifton, Ally, and Saylor. Mary Lou also leaves behind her parents, Hector and Ola Mae Garcia, and her siblings: Tammy Sullivan (Arnold), Sylvia Garcia, and Hector Garcia (Vallorie), along with a multitude of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends who will remember her kindness and compassion.
In addition to her countless roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Mary Lou loved participating in various activities that enriched the lives of those around her. She had a passion for puzzles and took great joy in attending events for her grandchildren. Her deep faith led her to regularly attend church, where she found community and solace.
Mary Lou will be remembered for her loving spirit and the selflessness with which she approached life. She brought warmth and connection to all she met, and her absence will be profoundly felt by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ashley Denise Orso, whose memory will forever be cherished.
A wake for Mary Lou Orso will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Freeman Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Reed's Chapel Baptist Church with Bro. Clevon Weaver and Bro. Dean Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Thomas Cemetery.
