Mary Singley Tindle, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 11, 2017. She was 98 years old, just thirteen days shy of her 99th birthday. Mary was born on November 24, 1918 to Sidney Albert and Rosa Singley. Growing up during the Depression, Mary learned at an early age to work hard and take care of her family. On March 12, 1938, she married the love of her life and fishing partner, Jackson A. Tindle. They were together for over 54 years and both retired from Searcy Hospital spending their spare time fishing on the River. Mary was a member of Lockler Memorial Baptist Church where she was recognized as the oldest living member for several years. She loved the Lord and was always looking forward to the day in which God would “smile down on her”. She enjoyed listening to “old time” gospel music, quilting, embroidery and searching for words in her puzzle books. She also had the “best” garden around and would cook Sunday dinner for her family. Mary was an excellent cook and was known for her chicken and dumplings, biscuits with “cocoa/chocolate gravy” and dressing, which was a hit at all family gatherings and reunions. She will be dearly missed by her family and was loved by everyone who knew her. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson A. Tindle; daughter, Jacqueline Dungan; and siblings, Tera Singley, Elbie Singley, Nara Giles, Raber Singley, J.T. Singley, Eber Singley, Dovie Giles, and Albert C. “Pat” Singley; grandson, James Richard Jenkins; and daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Tindle. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Merrell “Liston” Tindle (Elaine), Leland L. Tindle, Faye Dungan (Ray) and Mary Lou Walker (Bobby); ten grandchildren, Kevin Tindle (Melinda), Kerry Tindle, Laurie Milholland (Glen), Julia McCain, Jimmy Tindle, Debbie Walker (Jeff), Ronnie Dungan (Gail), Sheila Jenkins, Shea Gardner (David) and Sundance Walker; 16 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bea Singley; other relatives and friends. The Wake will be from 6-9pm Monday, November 13, 2017 at Lockler Memorial Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will be 11am Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Lockler Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in Advent Cemetery in Silas, Alabama. Online condolences may be given at www.freemancitronelle.com. Freeman Funeral Home – Citronelle, Alabama.
