Mary Walthall

Mary Walthall, born on February 5, 1949, passed away peacefully at her home on December 19, 2024. She was a remarkable woman, known for her outgoing, funny, loving, and caring personality. Her vibrant spirit touched the lives of everyone around her.

Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, proud of her family’s achievements and milestones. She cherished her daughter, Jessie Burton, and her grandchildren, Marilyn Rivers and Thomas Weaver (Kristal). Her heart brimmed with love for her great grandchildren, Sattin, Cash, and particularly for her great granddaughter, Mariana, who brought her immense joy. Additionally, she is survived by her beloved siblings, Percy Rivers (Jewel) and Betty Brett, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will forever hold her memory dear.

In her spare time, Mary enjoyed attending church and found great pleasure in music. She was an avid television fan, with a particular fondness for game shows like Wheel of Fortune, which she loved watching.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John Walthall; her children, Janice Morris and Infant Thomas Morris; her parents, Percy and Jessie Mae Rivers; and her siblings, Jerry Rivers, Alfred Rivers, and Charles Leno Rivers.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Magnolia Holiness Church from 1:00 PM until the 2:00 PM funeral service with Bro. Ike Reed and Bro. Joe Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. 

Mary Walthall will be remembered for her warmth, humor, and love for her family. Her legacy will continue through those she leaves behind, and she will be deeply missed.
