Mary Lillian Webb, age 90, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023 at her residence with her family by her side. Known to many simply as Lillian, was an incredible woman with a heart of gold. She touched countless lives throughout her long and remarkable life, and she will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. Lillian was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother who was always eager to help others, and she was very involved in volunteering within her community. Most of all, she was known for her kind and compassionate nature, always putting the needs of others ahead of her own.

For many years, Lillian was the owner and operator of Webb's Cafe, and she poured her heart and soul into the business. She was a master of Southern cuisine, and her cooking was renowned throughout the community. Her hospitality and warmth made her cafe a second home to many, and countless memories were made around her tables. It was said that no one ever left Webb Cafe without a full belly and a big smile on their face. Lillian loved nothing more than bringing people together and making them feel welcome, and she was famous for her infectious laugh and cheerful demeanor.

Lillian had a deep and abiding faith, and she was a longtime member of State Line Baptist Church, as well as an affiliate of Calvert Baptist Church. Her faith was a central part of her life, and she was always eager to help others in any way she could. Lillian was a true servant of God, and her faith was reflected in all aspects of her life. She was a member of State Line Chapter 156 Order of the Eastern Star, and her service within the organization was just one of the many ways she lived out her faith.

Lillian was an amazing woman with many passions and interests. She cherished her family above all else, and her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved nothing more than sharing a meal, laughing together, and telling stories. Travel was also near and dear to her heart, and she was always eager to explore new places and meet new people.

Lillian was a kind, compassionate, and giving person, always putting others ahead of herself. She had a way of making everyone feel special and valued, and her tremendous generosity touched countless lives. Whether through her cooking, her volunteer work, or simply her warm and welcoming personality, she made a profound impact on those around her. Her legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Mary Lillian Webb, or simply Lillian, leaves behind a large and loving family, who will miss her presence deeply. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Lamar Webb and daughter Virginia Gardner, as well as her parents Alex and Della Thornton, and siblings Rosetta Dearman, Howard Thornton, and Frank Thornton. Lillian is survived by her children Wanda Lancaster, Judith Walley, Stuart Walley, Veronica Weaver, Vanessa Barnett, James Webb, Joann Reed, Andy Webb, and Pam Adams, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Her surviving siblings include Bruce Thornton, Gladys Delk, Marie Hall, and Brenda Crager, as well as her brother Glen Thornton. Lillian's warmth, kindness, and love will stay close to all who knew her, including other relatives and friends.

Family, friends and acquaintances are invited to attend the funeral service for Mary Lillian Webb at Freeman Funeral Home Funeral on Monday, March 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM. A brief visitation will be held from 10am until 11am with Bro. Tim Sullivan and Bro. Clay Lewis officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Nazarene Cemetery in Calvert, Alabama.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Maggie Dickinson, Angie Phillips, Lindsay Miller, Mary Lewis, Tiffany Brown, Rochelle Robinson, April May, and Bro. Tony at Kare-In-Home Hospice for the care the provided during this time.
