Maurice Claborn Tucker, Sr. had a remarkable life, filled with hard work, dedication, and an unwavering love for his family. He was born on November 1, 1934, to William and Alice Tucker in Yazoo City, Mississippi. Maurice was a man of many talents and held various roles throughout his career. He ran the Trailway truck stop and Parkway truck stop, creating welcoming places for weary travelers to rest and refuel. Additionally, he owned an independent trucking company called Tucker Produce, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit.
While Maurice was a hardworking businessman, his true joy came from spending time with his loved ones. He particularly cherished moments with his grandchildren and would always gather them around to watch Westerns together. His warm presence and genuine love created lasting memories that will forever be treasured by his family.
Maurice Claborn Tucker, Sr.'s determination and strong will made him a hero to everyone who knew him. He faced every challenge with unwavering strength and always persevered. His generous heart touched the lives of many, and he will be remembered for his loving nature.
On January 4, 2024, Maurice passed away at the Mobile Infirmary Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Although he is no longer physically present with us, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all those who knew him.
A visitation service to honor Maurice's life will take place at Freeman Funeral Home on Sunday, January 7, 2024. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 1:30 PM until the 3:00 PM funeral service with Bro. Dino Danzey officiating.
On Monday, January 8, 2024, at 10:00 AM, Maurice's graveside will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Saraland.
Maurice leaves behind a cherished legacy and countless memories. He will forever be remembered by his children, David Tucker (Linda), John Tucker (Karen), and Clay Tucker. Maurice's love extended to his grandchildren, Chad Tucker, Tifani Nobles (Dino), Savannah Bayles (Ryan), Tray Tucker, Ashton Parnell (Brandon), Megan Shirley (Adam), and Alison Tucker. His great-grandchildren Alek, London, Cayden, Colton, Kayzlee, Collin, Liam, Stella, Wyatt, Jameson, Adalynn, Mariah, and Kaizyn were a source of immense joy in his life. Maurice also embraced being a great-great-grandfather with the arrival of Ella Grace. He loved spending time with his family and made every moment count.
In addition to his immediate family, Maurice Claborn Tucker Sr. is survived by his children of choice, DonnaKay Tucker and Rex Kersey (Tanya). He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends who will deeply miss him.
Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, William and Alice Tucker; wife, Lavonne Tucker; daughter, Deborah Tucker; granddaughter, Kelsey Nobles; and seven brothers and sisters.
Maurice Claborn Tucker Sr. will forever be remembered for the love he shared with his family and friends throughout his remarkable life. May he rest in eternal peace knowing that he has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all those who had the honor of knowing him.
