Mavis Jeanette Johnston, 81, a native and resident of Washington County, Alabama passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at her home. She was a faithful member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to church, watching stories and having company. Mavis was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ruby Orso; husband, Elvin Alday Johnston; and daughter, Brandy Havelin. Those left to cherish her memory includes her children, Bonnie Johnston (Greg), Elizabeth A. “Becky” Weaver, Regina Vice and Harold Johnston (Brenda); six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 10am until the 11am funeral service on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Mount Moriah Baptist Church with Rev. Dwight Weaver and Rev. Ronnie Toomey officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Arnold Sullivan, Bert Sullivan, Randy “Bo” Sullivan, Brent Weaver, Andrew Rivers and Ken Sullivan.
