Michael Wayne McGuire, known to all as "Mike", passed away on May 1, 2024, at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter. He was born on February 2, 1954, and lived a life filled with joy, humor, and openness.
A man of diverse interests, Mike found great pleasure in following Alabama and Saints football, playing softball and basketball, enjoying games of frisbee, collecting Tasmanian Devil memorabilia, and indulging in the art of writing poetry. His vibrant personality shone through his witty remarks and his ability to see the humor in any situation.
Among his proudest accomplishments were his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 15 years, Susan McGuire; his children Kandi Manahan (Heath), Sami Faye Ervin, Tammie Weaver (Michael), and RJ Dixon (Samantha); grandchildren Brittany Chestang, Anthony Weaver, Gavin Smith, Sheila Reed, Sidney Smith, Lydia Reed, Victoria Washington, Jalen Weaver, Yasmine Smith, Dyson Ervin, Katrina Ervin, Blake Smith, and Bradley Heath Dixon; along with 17 great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. He also leaves behind his brothers, William Gary McGuire, James R. McGuire, Paul Anthony "Tony" McGuire, Cecil McGuire; sister/niece Sherry Marcantel (Joe); friends, Carl Weaver and Mack Byrd; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his son, Heath Smith; parents, William and Catherine McGuire; and siblings, Dorothy Gage, Mary Paul, and Bobby McGuire.
Services to honor Mike's life will be held at Freeman Funeral Home in Citronelle on Saturday, May 4, 2024. A visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service with Bro. Chad Orso officiating. Burial will follow in Reed's Chapel Cemetery.
Michael Wayne McGuire's presence will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace knowing he touched the hearts of many with his kindness and humor.
