Mildred Lou Hopkins, a resident of Mount Vernon, Alabama, passed away Friday, July 10, 2020. She was 73 years old. She graduated from Bishop State Community College in 1987 as a registered nurse. She worked for Mobile Mental Health until her retirement. Mildred was a dedicated member of her church, Simple House of Praise. She loved music and enjoyed singing. Most of all, she loved her family immensely. Mildred was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Alex Hopkins Sr.; parents, Quillard Ragans and Bessie Mae Bales; brother, Danny Ragans; and sister, Zona Hughes. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Debra Weaver (Gary), Michael Massey (Shelby), Alex Hopkins Jr. (Sarah), Daniel Hopkins (Velma), and Anthony Byrd (Tammie); seventeen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; devoted granddaughter, Hannah; sisters, Maeola Taylor (Henry) and Myrtle Weaver (Kesler); special friend, Kim Blankinchip; a loving church family; and many other relatives and friends. A wake will be held for Mildred from 6pm until 9pm Thursday, July 16, 2020, at Simple House of Praise. The funeral will be held 11am Friday, July 17, 2020, at Simple House of Praise with Rev.
