Milton "Whiskers" Whatley

April 7, 1929 — November 18, 2014

Mr. Milton “Whiskers” Whatley, 85, a native and resident of Citronelle, Alabama passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. He retired as Sergeant in the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was a member of Whatley Holiness Church and loved cars, motorcycles, animals and the outdoors. Mr. Whatley was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Edward and Gladys Whatley and his first born son, Mark Stephen Whatley. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Marie Whatley; children, Shirley (Jeff) Shewster, Sherry Whatley Alday & Paul Byrd, Cindy Whatley (Donald) Jackson, Milton Randall (Linda) Whatley; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, Dan (Nell) Whatley; sisters, Helen (Jimmy) Lloyd, Catherine (Norville) McGill, Dorothy Hamilton and Winnie Hardee; other relatives and friends, especially his “coffee buddies” that he enjoyed socializing with at Hardees on Saturday mornings. The family will receive friends from 10 am until the 11 am funeral service on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Whatley Holiness Church with Rev. Gaylon Cunningham and Rev. Jimmy Lloyd officiating. Burial will follow in Whatley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be given at www.freemancitronelle.com.
