Mitchell Rock Burnside, Jr.

Mitchell Burnside, a native of Fairford, Alabama, and a resident of Chatom, Alabama, passed away Friday, October 20, 2017. He was 74 years old. Mitchell was born September 13, 1943 to Mitcheal and Ruby Burnside in Fairford, Alabama. After high school, Mitchell was drafted into the United States Navy and served in Vietnam. After retiring from construction, Mitchell loved to take rides on his horses and have breakfast every morning at Webb’s Café. He loved to talk and never met a stranger. He was loved by many and will be truly missed by all who knew him. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Michelle Smith (Jeremy), Shane Burnside, Shawn Burnside (Delana), and Shea Burnside; six granddaughters; siblings, Annabel Robinette and Fred Burnside; and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends 10am until the 11am funeral service Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Freeman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
