Opra Earl Davis, Sr., 65, a resident of Mount Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at Mobil Infirmary Medical Center. He worked as a tankerman on a tugboat and was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Davis, Louise Weaver Rivers, and George Thomas Rivers; sons, Ronnie and Donnie Davis; two sisters, Darlene Rivers and Charlotte Rivers. Left to cherish his memory his wife, Tommy Joe Davis; daughter, Shannon Nicole Davis; three sons, Johnny Earl Davis, Tom Joe Davis, and Opra Earl Davis, Jr.; three step-daughters, Alice (Joel) Rivers, Ben Grace (Tom) Rivers, and Josiah (Phillip) Snow; three step-sons, Bruce (Misty) Smith, Brian Sullivan, and Brent Sullivan; grandchildren, Tyler Earl Davis and Brittney Janell Davis; two sisters Jeannie (Bud) Williams and Angel Rivers; four brothers, Richard (Ola) Davis, Bill (Cassie) Davis, George Rivers, Jr., and Kevin L. (Sherry) Rivers; other relatives and friends. A wake will be held Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 6-9pm at Freeman Funeral Home. The rosary will begin at 5:45pm. The Mass of Resurrection will be Friday, January 23, 2015 at 10am at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Rev. John Coghlan, celebrant. Burial will follow in Byrd Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Alabama.
