Peter Lamar Gulsby, a loving and outspoken individual known for his sense of humor, has passed away at the age of 62 at his home. Born on February 5, 1961, Peter touched the lives of many through his warm personality and playful demeanor.
Peter's journey in life took him down various paths, including serving in the United States Army with honor. His dedication to his country demonstrated his unwavering patriotism and commitment to protect and serve.
Outside of his military service, Peter had a wide range of hobbies and interests that brought him joy. An avid Florida State football fan, he never missed watching a game. He also enjoyed activities such as golfing, fishing, hunting, and spending quality time with his loved ones. Peter's passion for guns reflected his appreciation for marksmanship and personal protection.
Peter was a family man who the relationships he built throughout his life. He took immense pride in being a husband to Regina Gulsby and a caring father to Jana Gulsby and Bradley Gulsby. His love extended to his fur babies Abigale and Lula Bell as well. Peter found great joy in watching his grandchildren Derick, Dalton, and Noah grow while also sharing a special bond with his fur grandbaby, JJ.
In addition to his immediate family, Peter is survived by his mother Carolyn Cunningham, brother William Paul Gulsby, sister Angie Teasley, brother-in-law Mitch Smith (Caroline), nieces and nephews Ashley Reed, Kaitlyn Smith, and Dustin Smith; aunt Marilyn Odom; other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Peter L. Gulsby Sr., uncle Sam Odom, and cousin Bo Odom.
A wake will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Freeman Funeral Home. The funeral service to honor Peter's life will be held on February 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Freeman Funeral Home. Following the service, a burial ceremony will take place at Alabama State Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, AL. The burial is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Peter Lamar Gulsby, a man who brightened the lives of those around him through his delightful humor and genuine love for his family and friends. May his memory be treasured forever in our hearts as we remember the impact he made during his time with us.
