Phyllis Yvonne Herlong

Phyllis Y. Herlong "Big Mama", age 77, a resident of Mobile, AL, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Phyllis was a faithful member of Faith Temple, where she found joy in playing the piano and singing for the glory of the Lord. Her love for music was a reflection of her deep spiritual connection, and she used her talents to uplift those around her. Phyllis also found peace and joy in working in her yard, tending to the beauty of nature. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, always bringing warmth and love to her home.

 Phyllis was preceded in death by her siblings: Louis Weaver, Shelton Weaver, Zeamon Weaver, Thomas Weaver, Albert Weaver, Ivory Weaver, Elvis Weaver, Jesse Mae Rivers, Caroline Morris, and Tiny Manuel. 

She is survived by her son, Donnie Rivers (Michelle); three grandchildren, Donavon Rivers (Brittanni), Shawn Rivers, and Allyson Rivers; and three great-grandchildren, Isabella, Emery, and Gaines Rivers.

 Phyllis is also survived by her loving sister, Martha Ann Sullivan, as well as a special friend, Van Lampkin, other relatives, and many friends who will miss her dearly. Phyllis’s legacy of love, faith, and family will continue to inspire and bring comfort to those who knew her.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 1:00 PM until the 2:00 PM funeral service at Magnolia Holiness Church with Bro. Lloyd Lane and Bro. Percy Carl officiating. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
