Rev. Charles Edgar Griffith of Saraland, Alabama, departed this life on January 19, 2018, in Mobile, Alabama. He was born to the late Charles Griffith and Clemon Laird Griffith on August 1, 1937, in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Rev. Griffith honorably served in the United States Army and later was a graduate of Baptist Bible Institute, William Carey College and New Orleans Baptist Seminary. He served as a Baptist minister for 43 years, pastoring churches in several states including First Baptist Citronelle, Gulfcrest Baptist and Grove Hill Baptist. He is preceded in death by a son, Tracy Alan Griffith; brother, Rodney Griffith; sister Virginia Griffith Adams; sister Shirley Jones and sister Helen Edward. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie Nell Sharp Griffith; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Page Griffith-Lancaster Gibson and her husband, Cody, of Daphne, Alabama; sister Beverly Griffith Hall, and her husband, Gary, of Bogalusa, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Bobbi Sharp Taber, and her husband, Bruce, of Franklinton, Louisiana; daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Brantley Griffith Lancaster, and her husband, Steve, of Atmore Alabama; granddaughters Bailey Colleen Lancaster and Mary Thompson Lancaster of Atmore, Alabama; and many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The wake for Rev. Griffith will be from 5pm-7pm on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Freeman Funeral Home. The graveside service will be at 2pm Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Plainview Baptist Cemetery in Bogalusa, Louisiana with Rev. Dennis Dunn officiating.
