It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richetta Dixon. Richetta was born on December 14, 1943, and peacefully departed from this world on September 21, 2023. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. Richetta was a native of Deer Park, Alabama and a resident of Citronelle, Alabama.
Richetta began her career at St. Regis, where she dedicated six years of her life. Afterward, she pursued a fulfilling career as a caregiver until her retirement in 2018. Her compassionate nature and genuine care for others touched the lives of many during her time in this profession.
Education held great importance to Richetta, and she proudly graduated from North Central High School in Chatom, Alabama. She cherished the knowledge gained during her time there.
Those who knew Richetta will remember her warm personality and outgoing nature. She never met a stranger and had an incredible ability to make everyone around her feel comfortable. Richetta's humility and sweet spirit made her a true gem in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Richetta had various hobbies and interests that brought her joy throughout her life. She loved to shop and possessed an impeccable sense of style. Gardening was another passion of hers, where she found solace amidst blooming flowers and thriving plants. Additionally, Richetta enjoyed crafting, pouring her creativity into beautiful handmade pieces.
Family meant everything to Richetta. She leaves behind a legacy cherished dearly by her daughter, Monica Dixon; grandchildren, Iyana Mason, Zantwane Mason, Laborris Brooks, Chantel Brooks, Taressa Crayton, Quinton DeAundre Smith, and Paris Hinton; great-grandchildren, Ashanti, Ava, Ash'Lynn, Mariah, Bryce, Tommie, Chloe, Terr'Onna, Amaree, and Najee.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Dixon; son, Quinton Smith; parents, Johnnie and Ruby Smith; brothers, Leewood "Lynn" Smith and Robert E. Smith.
In addition to her immediate family, Richetta leaves behind a community of friends and extended family who mourn her loss deeply. Her siblings Helen Lucious, Ruth Annette Dixon, Alice Turner, James Smith, Anna Garner, Joseph Smith, and Jurod Smith will forever cherish the memories they shared with their beloved sister. Richetta also touched the lives of numerous nieces and nephews and in-laws, Victoria, Claude, Alfreda, Alford, and Amelia who will miss her dearly.
Services to honor and celebrate Richetta Dixon's life will be held on September 30, 2023. The visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service at Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Larry D. Bolton. Burial to follow in New Light Baptist Church Cemetery in Deer Park, Alabama. The family would like to invite friends to a repass at the Smith hill in Deer Park, Alabama.
Richetta Dixon will be remembered as someone who brought warmth and joy into the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Her kind heart touched the souls she encountered throughout her journey on earth. While we mourn her loss, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the love she shared.
