Ricky De’Wayne Reed, a native and resident of McIntosh, Alabama, went home to the Lord peacefully on September 18, 2016. He was 52 years old. Ricky was born November 26, 1963, to Clauzelle and Thelma Reed. He attended and graduated from McIntosh High School, then went on to proudly serve his country as a member of the United States National Guard Reserves. Later in life, Ricky’s sons would also serve in the United States Military and Ricky would be very proud of that. After service, Ricky worked for Jackson Wood Fiber for thirteen years as a crane operator. One of Ricky’s greatest passions in life was to support his sons during their high school football games. He never missed a game and could be found cheering them on in the bleachers. Ricky went home to be with the Lord, but we will always cherish the memories of him on Earth. Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Clauzelle and Thelma Reed; and his sister, Karen Sue Huggins. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 30 years, Sherry Weaver Reed; his beloved children, Brittany (Damien) Davis, Josh (Kristen) Reed, Justin Reed, Mallie Reed, and Tiffany Bell; his honorary son, David Chestang, Jr.; his grandchildren, Ariana, Caleb, Josh, Jr., Alyssa, Elijah, Everly, Malachi, and Donovan; his siblings, David (Darlene) Reed, Yvonne (Don) Knowles, Sharon (Jay) Michael, Cathy (Rusty) Reed, and Larry (Josephine) Reed; and tons of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family would like to acknowledge their church family at New Tabernacle Church for their endless love and support throughout this difficult time. A wake will be held for Ricky beginning at 6pm on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Magnolia Holiness Church. The funeral will be at 1pm on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at Magnolia Holiness Church, with Rev. Wilbert Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
