Robert Burns Evans, 88 years of age, passed away Wednesday, June 02, 2021, peacefully at his home in Fairford, Alabama.
Robert was born November 01, 1932, in the small Washington County Community of Fairford to the late George W. Evans and Minnie Carpenter Evans. He was the third of ten children, four brothers preceded him in death; an infant brother, Edgar Evans, Thomas Eugene Evans, Sr., and Otis B. Evans, Sr. He was educated in the public school system of Washington County and served as a medic in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He married the love of his life, Anna Estelle Tarver, in June of 1955, and they were blessed with three children.
Robert professed his life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church for the entirety of his life. He loved working in the church and served as a Sunday School Teacher, church trustee, and Chairman of Deacons until his health prevented his service. He enjoyed helping others and cherished the opportunity to work alongside many of his Christian brothers and sisters doing church building mission work throughout the United States with the Washington County Baptist Association. His love of the Lord created a lifelong journey of Bible study.
Robert was affectionately known as “Boss”, a nickname given to him by his grandson, Wes. This moniker seemed to fit him and for many years, people came to know him only as “Boss.” He loved all his family unconditionally. He will always be remembered as a loving and caring individual to not only his family, but his many friends as well.
He leaves to cherish his memory and continue his legacy his wife of 66 years, Anna Tarver Evans; children; Charlotte Young (Mark), Derryl Evans (Lori), and Eddie Evans (Tammy); seven grandchildren, Wesley Young (Sarah), Chad Evans (Cristi), Zachary Young (Christine), Justin Evans (Destiny), Nick Evans (Britta), Julianna Mulhern (Matthew), and Nancy Weaver (Wesley); fifteen great-grandchildren, Khloey, Toby, Jaylynn, Emily, Holly, Autumn, John Michael, and Luke Evans, Caroline, Crimson Ann, Stella, Amelia, and Christopher Young, Joelle and Wyatt Weaver; three sisters, Patricia Webb (Shelley), Linda Baugh, and Ina Canterbury (John); two brothers, Hubert E. Evans (Patricia) and John Daniel Evans (Sandra); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
