Ronald Lee Helveston was born on October 8, 1935 to C.E. (Bum) and Johnnie Helveston. He left us for a better place on May 6, 2024. Ronald loved his family, especially for them to come visit because it always included good food. The 4th of July and Christmas Eve held a special place in his heart because those were the two holidays he and Mary hosted for their family members. Ronald also loved his cows and his dogs. He enjoyed getting on the tractor, growing hay and corn, being in his garden and travelling.
Through his company, Helveston Construction, he built many houses and buildings in Citronelle and the surrounding areas. Ronald was an avid reader, though the librarians can attest that they didn't always send the books he liked. He loved to learn the history of everything and sharing it.
Ronald was preceded in death by his daughter, Paula; son, Mark; brother, John Paul; and sister, Barbara Miller.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Mary Helveston; son, David Helveston; grandchildren, Amanda Helveston, Kathleen Herring, Pelly Helveston, and Amber Helveston; brother, Lauren Helveston (Joann); sister, Patricia Poffenbarger (Mike); numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Citronelle Methodist Church on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive visitors at 10:00 AM.
