Sadie Catherine Baxter, fondly known as the foundation of her family, passed away at her home, surrounded by love, on March 30, 2024. She was a beacon of light and a pillar of strength for all who knew her.
Born on November 2, 1942, Sadie led a life filled with warmth and compassion. Her welcoming nature meant that she always had open arms for everyone who crossed her path. Whether it was sharing a listening ear or offering comfort in times of need, Sadie was a source of unwavering support.
Sadie found joy in spending time with her family, playing games, tending to her garden, and preparing delicious meals that catered to everyone's tastes. She held a special love for the mountains, finding solace and peace in their grandeur.
One of Sadie's proudest accomplishments was her family. She showered her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with love and affection, creating unforgettable memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
Sadie is reunited in eternal peace with her beloved husband of 37 years, Joe Allen Baxter. She is also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Linda Baxter; as well as her siblings Leo Carpenter, Marie Williams, Mildred Ezell, Bernice Brewer, and W.C. Carpenter.
Sadie leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness carried on by her surviving family: sons Allen Wayne Baxter (Beverly), Clay Mitchell Baxter (Lisa), Randall Lamar Baxter, Richard Eric Baxter (Jackie), Joe Allen Baxter Jr. (Kelly); grandchildren Jamie, Rachael, Tabitha, Courtney, Sydney, Chris, Matt, Liz Eric, Allen, Eli; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Inez Dees; and many other dear relatives and life long friends whose lives she touched with her compassionate spirit.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the 3:00 PM funeral service on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Freeman Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Ezell officiating. Burial will follow in Okwakee Cemetery.
In the tapestry of life that Sadie wove with love and care, she will forever remain a cherished thread in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. May her soul rest in peace as her memory continues to shine brightly through the lives she has touched.
