Sancer Byrd, known affectionately as "Coot Meat," passed away on May 18, 2024 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. He was a jack of all trades, a people person, a storyteller, and a jokester who had an infectious love for laughter. Sancer was truly a charismatic and unique individual.
Born on June 13, 1954, Sancer had a passion for various hobbies, including riding his motorcycle, spending time with his beloved family and friends showcasing his talents in fixing anything he encountered, and indulging in delicious home-cooked meals.
Sancer Byrd's warm spirit will be dearly missed by his children Sancer Jeremy Byrd (Tara) and Joshua Weaver; grandchildren Caitlin, J.D., Landon, Abby, Kaden, and Allisa; siblings Polly Byrd Rivers, Cora Lee Byrd, Eva Byrd, Nettie Evans (Jack), Debora Holmes, James Byrd Jr., Carol Byrd (Marlin), and Margie Wilkerson (Gary); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Murray and Irma Byrd and his nephew Justin Byrd.
A visitation in memory of Sancer Byrd will take place at Aldersgate United Methodist Church on May 22, 2024 from 1:00 PM until the 2:00 PM Funeral Service with Rev. Jimmy Sullivan and Rev. Paul McVay officiating. Burial to follow in Byrd Cemetery.
In honor of his life filled with laughter and love for those around him, Sancer leaves behind cherished memories that will forever be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
