Sharon M. Belk Doran passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 12, 2021, at the University of South Alabama Hospital.
Sharon was born September 19, 1943, to Benney and Claudine Belk in Davenport, Iowa. She was married to Joseph Doran on October 15, 1966 at Saint Mary’s Church in Davenport, Iowa.
She graduated from Assumption High School in 1961 and Rex’s Beauty School in 1963. She owned several beauty salons in Davenport and Eldridge and in 1972 acquired a beauty school in Iowa City I.E. Sharon Doran’s Academy of Science and Hair Design. She and her husband then eventually owned schools in Illinois and Colorado.
She did guest artist work, made a national T.V. commercial for Redken Laboratories, and at one time had her own radio talk show.
Sharon and Joe have two daughters, Cassie and Theresa. Cassie passed away February 6, 2019 at their current home in Citronelle, Alabama, where she was employed by the City of Citronelle at the Mill Creek Golf Course.
She is survived by her husband, Joe; daughter, Theresa and son-in-law, Chris Prouty of Citronelle; and two grandsons, Nic and Corbin. She is also survived by her sister, Cindy Dolan of Edwards, Missouri.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be held for Sharon at 11am Friday, August 20, 2021, at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Rev. John Coghlan, celebrant. Refreshments to follow service. Online condolences may be given at www.freemancitronelle.com. Freeman Funeral Home – Citronelle, Alabama
