Shawnn Mitchell Burnside, a loving father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on December 30, 2023, at Asbury Hospice House. He was surrounded by his loving family in his final moments. Shawnn's kind and caring nature endeared him to all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Born on August 8, 1983, Shawnn brought joy and laughter into the lives of others from an early age. His infectious sense of humor and courageous spirit were always a source of inspiration for his family and friends. Whether he was cracking jokes or lending a helping hand, Shawnn's presence brightened any room he entered.
Shawnn cherished spending time with his family and friends. He found immense happiness in their company and cherished every moment shared together. His daughters, Blakely Burnside and Rayley Burnside of Millry, AL, were the center of his world. Their love filled his heart with an overwhelming sense of pride and joy.
Shawnn's other surviving loved ones include his mother, Susan Schouest Pontif of Richton, MS; sister, Michelle (Jeremy) Smith of Richton, MS; and brothers, Shane Burnside of Ellisville, MS and Shea Burnside of Fairford, AL. He had a close-knit bond with each member of his family that will forever be remembered with fondness.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mitchell Burnside, and grandparents, Mitchell Sr. and Ruby Burnside as well as Edward and Mary Plaisance Schouest.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the 2:00 PM funeral service Wednesday, January 3, 2023 at Liberty Baptist Church with Br. Gary Pickard officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
Shawnn Mitchell Burnside will be remembered as a loving father, son, brother, and friend. His charming personality, courage, and caring nature will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and treasured memories that will be cherished by his loved ones and friends for generations to come. May he rest in eternal peace.
