Shirley Jean Loper, a resident of Charity Chapel, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019. She was 84 years old. Shirley was born August 12, 1935 to Eugene and Lillion Patrick. She was a retired school teacher who taught at Pleasant View and Charity Chapel schools for many years. Shirley enjoyed growing a vegetable garden and loved spending time with her family. She had a close-knit family who loved her dearly and will miss her greatly. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Loper; parents, Eugene and Lillion Patrick; and daughter, baby Jean Loper. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, James Robert Loper, Sr., Carolyn M. Barnard, Kenneth L. Loper, Alfred Ray Loper (Brenda), and Elizabeth A. Loper; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; siblings, Joann Maples, Donald Patrick, Lyndal Reid, Jimmy Patrick, and Tommy Patrick; and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 10am until the 11am funeral service Friday, September 13, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Dwight Weaver and Rev. Mike Reid officiating.
