Steven DeWayne Simpson

Steven DeWayne Simpson, 51, passed away September 1, 2021 in Midland, Michigan. Steve was a pipe supervisor and welder for Universal Plant Services. Steve enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, but most of all, he loved turkey hunting. He loved the outdoors, and any chance he could use a chainsaw. Steve was an avid Alabama football fan, and never failed to yell “Roll Tide”. He loved quiet evenings at home sipping on sweet tea with peach crown while watching Andy Griffith. Steve loved his family and put them first above everything. He loved his grandbabies and enjoyed being a PawPaw. Steve was a hero and would help anyone in need. When he loved you, he loved hard and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Claude Simpson; mother, Rose Marie Wiggins; sister, April Lynn Simpson; and uncle, David Wiggins. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sharon Gail; children, Lindsey Taylor (Jesse), Stephanie Simpson (Pelly), Stacie “Nikki” Simpson; step-children, Alexandria Williams (Rowdy), Aaron Williams (Hollie) and Annalise Williams; grandchildren, Haiden, C.J., Xander, Asher, Riley, Castur, Forrest, Abigail, Shelby, and Koen; siblings, Darrell Taylor, D.J. Simpson, and Lisa Chestang; special cousin, Day Day Wiggins; other relatives and friends. A wake will be from 6-9 pm Monday, September 6, 2021 at Freeman Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held 10am Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Reid officiating. Burial will be in Byrd Cemetery.
