Thomas Irving McManus, a resident of Mount Vernon, Alabama, passed away Friday, November 4, 2022. He was 80 years old. Thomas served in the Army National Guard. He retired from Ciba Geigy Chemical Corporation where he worked as a maintenance manager. Thomas loved his family, his friends, and his country dearly. He was proud to be from Mount Vernon, Alabama, and loved all things American, especially southern. Reading was always a passion of his and he loved history. Thomas was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved to shrimp the waters of his beloved Gulf Coast. In his spare time, Thomas enjoyed bluegrass music and playing the guitar and harmonica.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Sadie McManus; sister; Yvonne Middleton; and brother, Dan McManus, Jr.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children; Vicki McManus, Valerie Pitts; Thomas McManus, Jr.; grandchildren, Whitney, Gracie, and Lilly; great grandson, Ryder; sister, Frances Hale; brother, Frank McManus; other relatives; and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM funeral service Friday, November 11, 2022, at Lockler Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Rodger Perkins officiating.
