Van Loomis, Sr., a resident of Citronelle, Alabama, passed away at his home on Friday, September 15, 2017. He was 88 years old. Van was born March 03, 1929, in Gravel Ridge, Arkansas. Van served in the United States Navy during World War II. Van was a member of Memorial Baptist Church where he was very active and served as an usher. He read his Bible daily and enjoyed living for the Lord. In his spare time, Van enjoyed fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife to visit his children and grandchildren. Van was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 51 years, Margaret Loomis; children, Wanda Yohnk and Van Loomis, Jr. (April); grandchildren, Allen Yohnk, Krystina Starr, Jenna Leverett, Candice Yohnk, Christian Loomis; great grandchild, Lucas Starr; and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 2pm until the 3pm funeral service Sunday, September 17, 2017, at Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Justin Carter, Pastor Van Loomis Jr., and Rev. Dino Danzey officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Redeeming Grace Baptist Church building fund.
