Verma V. Reed, 72, a native and resident of McIntosh, Alabama passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was a member and chairman of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and after 34 years retired from Ciba Geigy. Verma was active with his people and community. He served many years as MOWA Tribal Chairman and MOWA Housing Authority Chairman. He is a member of the Washington County Hall of Fame and had served as Chairman of the Washington County Democratic Committee. He loved his tribe, politics, and spending time with his family. Verma was preceded in death by his parents, William and Hundove Reed, sons, Gerald Weaver and Michael Shane Byrd. Left to cherish his memory his wife of 35 years, Reva Reed; children, Angie (Tim) Middleton, Vance (Deanna) Reed, Phyllis (Ray) Nelson, Lemuel (Dana) Byrd, Troy (Shirl) Reed, Gregory Reed, Travis (Krystle) Byrd, Ingran (Pat) Simmons, Christopher (April) Reed, and Tiffany (Jeremy) Beason; siblings, Daisy Jane Snow and Wylie Reed; grandchildren and great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Friday, April 17, 2015 from 11am until the 12pm funeral service at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Howard Gaston and Rev. Christopher Reed officiating.
