Vern Anthony Davis, a resident of Mount Vernon, Alabama, passed away on February 15, 2024 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. He was 69 years. Throughout his life, Vern embraced a career of truck driving and spent his days traveling the open roads. It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to a remarkable individual. Vern had a knack for teasing others in the most endearing way possible and could always put a smile on their face. His sense of humor brought joy to those around him. Vern had a heart of gold that touched the lives of many.
In his leisure time, Vern found solace in antiquing and fixing old things. He had a talent for uncovering hidden gems and reviving them to their former glory. He also cherished moments spent with loved ones and always made it a priority to visit with family and friends. For Vern, family always came first. He left an indelible mark on their lives, which will forever serve as a reminder of his love for them.
Vern was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Bertha Mae Davis, as well as his sisters Juanita Reed and Cora Davis.
He is survived by his children, Shane Davis "His Boy", Dana Whitehead (DJ), Shanna Davis, and Whitley Robertson (Eric). His grandson Daylon Whitehead holds a special place in his heart, the embodiment of love and joy. Among his siblings who mourn his loss are Velma Chattom (Jerry), Loria Sullivan, Judy Byrd, Loretta Wyatt (Jerry), Priscilla Byrd, Frank Davis Jr. (Kara), and Alice Criswell (Mickey); many nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends.
Vern's services will be held at Cedar Creek Baptist Church on February 17, 2024. The visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM with Bro. Shaw officiating. Burial will follow at Byrd Cemetery.
Vern Anthony Davis will forever be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his zest for life, and his ability to find humor in any situation. As we gather to pay our respects, let us celebrate the remarkable journey of a man whose spirit remains etched in our hearts.
