Wilbert Ellis Mason passed away on October 28, 2023, at his residence. He was born on July 6, 1941, in Alabama. Wilbert had a remarkable career with the Alabama Power Company, where he worked as a Line Crew Supervisor for 40 years before retiring. Even after retirement, he continued to contribute to the community by working for the City of Citronelle as the Code Inspector for 7 years.

Wilbert Mason was an alumnus of Citronelle High School, graduating in 1959. During his time there, he excelled in both football and baseball. He carried his passion for sports throughout his life and took great pride in watching his children and grandchildren play ball. In addition to his dedication to work and family, Wilbert found solace in his hobbies and interests. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved deer and turkey hunting. As a lifelong fox hunter with the Blackwater Fox Hunters Association, he cherished the time spent pursuing this beloved pastime.

Known as someone who never met a stranger, Wilbert had a warm personality that drew people to him. He enjoyed sharing stories with others and had an innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He will be remembered for his kind heart and charming nature.

Wilbert also served his country as a member of the Army National Guard in the 711th Cable Signal Unit. His commitment to serving others extended beyond his military service. He was an active member and Deacon for First Baptist Church and Restoration Church, reflecting his strong faith and dedication to spiritual growth.

Wilbert Ellis Mason is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sharon Mason, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and cherished memories. He is also survived by his children, Jeffrey Mason (Melissa) and Zachrey Mason (Hillery), who will forever hold their father's love in their hearts.

Wilbert adored his grandchildren, Jordan Barbarin (Craig), Sawyer Mason (Meagan), Caroline Malone, Will Mason, Ollie Mason, and Finn Mason. Their presence brought him immense joy, and he took great pride in witnessing their achievements. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Lilly and Asher Barbarin and Tate Mason, who brought a spark of light into his life.

Among the cherished memories Wilbert leaves behind are the bonds he shared with his brother, Elbert "Bubba" Mason (Judy), and the extended circle of family and friends who meant so much to him. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Mason; mother, Addie Mason Byrd (Oliver); father and mother-in-law, Ferris and Jessie Lee; and siblings, Albert Mason Jr., Harold Mason, and Daleen Maples.

To honor Wilbert Ellis Mason, visitation services will be held on October 31st, 2023, at Restoration Church in Citronelle. The visitation will begin at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at the same location with Bro. John Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery

Pallbearers will be Sawyer Mason, Will Mason, Jay Mason, Phil Platt, J.D Odom, and Russ Lee. Honorary Pallbearer will be Ollie Mason.

In his lifetime, Wilbert accomplished much and touched the lives of many with his unwavering commitment to work, family, faith, and community. His legacy will live on through the memories shared by those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in eternal peace.
