Wilkins “Will” Byrd, 71, a resident of Mount Vernon, Alabama, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. He worked at Alabama Ship Yard, Brown and Root, Phoenix, Tube City IMS, and Taylor Services. He was a jack of all trades but his main trade was welding. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Will was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Byrd. Those left to cherish his memory include daughters, Hazel (Todd) Johnston and Edna (Scott) Presley; grandchildren, Brittaney, Erin, Brooklyn & Macey, great grandchildren, Phillip, Jayson, Kaige & Keith; sisters, Lurenda Byrd, Liz (Alex) Weaver; other relatives and friends. A wake will be held Monday, January 04, 2016 from 6pm-9pm at Freeman Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 12pm, Tuesday, January 05, 2016 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Rev. George Weaver, Rev. Jimmy Sullivan, and Rev. Greg Nobles officiating. Burial will follow at Byrd Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Alabama. Online register available at www.freemancitronelle.com.
