William Arnett “Billy” Barnett, 83, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014 at his home in Mount Vernon, AL surrounded by his family and close friends. Billy served our country in the United States Navy as a submariner on the USS Requin during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church and Joe Southall Lodge #905 F & AM. He loved fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Leigh Barnett, son, William A. “Butch” Barnett, Jr., brothers, Robert Barnett, Aubrey Barnett, Freddy Barnett and sister, Helen Barnett Floyd. His survivors include daughters, Mary Ann Barnett and Terri (Mike) Jarrell; grandchildren, Lacy (Walt) Richardson, Hannah (Joe) Lomax and William “Billy” Jarrell; great grandchildren, Chuck, Brooklyn, Elliot, Anne Michael and Mary Helen; brothers, Donald (Minnie) Barnett and Michael (Vanessa) Barnett; sister, Deborah (Marshall) Wilson; other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 13, 2014 from 10am until the 11am funeral service at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church with Mrs. June Jarrell delivering the eulogy and Rev.
