William Harry "Billy" Byrd

October 1, 1941 — December 7, 2024

Citronelle, Alabama

William Harry Byrd ("Billy"), passed away in his home on December 7, 2024. He was born on October 1, 1941.

Billy was born and raised in Citronelle, Alabama and remained a lifelong resident. He graduated from Citronelle High School in 1960, and joined the United States Army where he served for five years. He then joined the Army National Guard Reserves for ten years. Billy's military service instilled in him habits of discipline and routine, which were on display throughout his life even in the smallest details like neatly making his bed each morning and reading his Bible in his armchair.

Billy worked hard at the Astra-Zeneca Chemical Plant for 28 years before retiring. He enjoyed being outside, working on his childhood farm, riding his tractor, raising cattle and planting/growing crops. Billy appreciated the value of a hard day's work and impressed upon his children the importance of good work ethic.

Billy is survived by his three children, Bridget Byrd, Barrett Byrd (wife, Lynette), Brandon Byrd (wife, Julia) and their mother, Dianna Byrd; grandchildren Brennen Byrd, Wrenley Byrd, and Wrylen Byrd; his sister, Carol Atkins, brother-in-law Robert Atkins, nieces Christy Bingham (husband, Scott), Amanda Clegg (Joseph), and nephew Tom Atkins (wife, Sheryl). He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry King Byrd and Lucille Platt Byrd.

To our dad/grandfather (Paw Paw)/and friend, we love you and miss you dearly. We know you are in Heaven and look forward to the day when we will see you again.
